SteadyTune App Reviews

the hotkey to call it made it for me!!!

i use logic pro to practice guitar and its tuner is horrible. This one is really useful because you can assign a hotkey to instantly call it and it`s very precise too. I liked it!!!

Nice app. For the price it needs some love.

It works well but for an $8 app it could and should be more robust. Agile’s Guitar Toolkit for iOS shows the developer certainly knows how to make a GREAT app. For example, unlike Guitar Toolkit, Steadytune comes with a limited selection of tunings and *users cannot add custom tunings or rename tunings*. Fingerstyle guitar players use all sorts of alternate tunings and the included selection is by no means complete. For example CGDGAD (“Low C”) isn’t included. In addition, in Yosemite’s new dark mode, Steadytune’s menubar icon is reduced to about 3 white pixels. Invisible.

Simple and easy to use

It’s my go to for tuning my unstruments before I record on my DAW / Home Studio. You can also set a hot key in the preferences for when you’re ready to tune. I find that very useful. Example: My hot key = CTL T - when I press that, it pops up waiting to tune my instrument(s).

Very accurate

Easy to use and accurate. Best guitar tuner app for Mac.

Excellent Utility

Lightweight, useful, great app, thanks!

Awesome!

I run a guitar Studio in Arlington TX and this app is great for us because it is so easy to place it on the desktop and have a easy access tuner readily available! It is also super accurate!! Hope in a future update they allow you to make it a little larger on screen - other than that perfect!! :)

Could be better

Great for tuning if youre close to start with. A reference tone to get started would be nice.

Love it

Automatically detected my USB input. Works beautifully.

Now it won’t open

Just downloaded it. Opened the first time. But now won’t open at all. Please make a fix.

Fraud

Wont open. What is the point of a Walled Garden when there is no quality control or accountability? I have been defrauded and I want a refund and legal consequences for the criminals behind this scam.

App does open, just a little confusing how...

Edited my review --- I thought the program was not running, but it just doesnt open a new window when opened. Look in the upper right corner of your desktop (by the sound and wireless icons). The tuning fork shows the propram is working - just click on the icon. Tech support responded to my concerns in a matter of hours. Once this was explained I found the app very easy to use. I was all tuned up in moments. Thanks for the help and the great little program!

Ignore the Negative Reviews

Works great and exactly how it appears to. Im pretty sure the reviewers saying the app doesnt open dont understand what a menu bar app is. Click the little tuning fork and it opens every time.

Absolutely Worth the Money if You Play Banjo!

That summary is not an attempt at sarcasim. I am a ex-pro guitarist, who is now trying to master the banjo, which its true that you spend more time tuning a banjo than playing one. Well I forked out the 8 bucks a couple of days ago for this app and Im completely overwhelmed with how much less I spend tuning and and retuning this banjo and how much more time Im actually playing the darn thing! I can see that this investiment in SteadyTune will most definitely pay off....and then some. Another great app from Agile! Thanks again for the quality products! You guys are still batting a thousand with me!

best in class tuner

i’ve downloaded *lots* of tuners, including the tc electronics stuff for iPhone etc. this tuner is best in class for your native mac. visualization is great, accurate (of course) and not twitchy displays. you won’t be disappointed with this app

SWEET!

I have several guitars, a Dobro, a mandolin, a banjo and an upright bass in my studio. My brother plays the fiddle. (I have some other instruments, too, but these are the only ones that constantly need tuning. I set this tuner to use the input from Duet 2. And now I can tune up in seconds and record a track. Switching back and forth between instruments with only a slight delay for tuning back up. Purely amazing! I also notice that if I’m off slightly in my finger placement when playing a fretless instrument, this tuner lets me know so I can be a little more careful of that note on the next take. This is worth every cent I paid for it. Should have bought it long ago. For those of you who have trouble finding it after you buy it, go to the application folder (blue folder with the A on it) and look for Steady Tune. After that first use, you can launch it from the bar near the time and date. Sweet!

Notr working for me

Tried tuning my guitar but could get the green bar for A. Gave up.

The easiest way to say in tune around a Mac

Click the menu bar icon, tune your instrument and play. Perfect for those of us stuck at our computers most of the day anyway.

I Can’t Open This App.

It opened the first time and then won’t again. I will change my rating if someone can help me make it work.

Doesn’t Work With Bass

App is useless for bass. Only detects the G string every once in a while. “No Notes Detected” for the E, A, D strings. Volume is all the way up on the app. I’m using it with Apogee Duet 2. Waste of money. Bass players beware.

Good design, simple, and it works

This tuner looks great and it works as advertised. I own also own a Korg Sledgehammer Pro and a few Snarks. The Korg is more accurate than the Snarks. I did a quick test tuning my acoustic and SteadyTune is as accurate as the Korg, a pleasant surprise. My only complaints are also suggestions. First, In dark mode, the menu bar icon is barely visible. To the developers, please fix soon…I’m pretty sure a lot of us are using Dark Mode on our Macs. Second, it would nice to be able to detach the app window so I can move it to another screen while using a dual monitor setup.
